This is my contribution to this week’s Monday’s Finish the Story, brought to us by Barbara Beacham. Finish the story begins with : “He thought he found the perfect hiding spot.” He thought he found the perfect hiding spot from which to plot his escape plan. He had overhead the slaves discussing V.E.T today. Pfft. Do they really think that cats can’t spell? He knew that simply hiding in the lair wouldn’t work, because the slaves, despite appearances were smart enough to find him. Plus there was also the issue of food, so he couldn’t just hide in here forever. He extracted a set of claws and tested them against the leather lounge. Not bad. But over the years, the slaves seemed to have become impervious to threats and actual demonstrations of violence. More was needed. But what? He flicked his tail back and forth, running through the scenarios, until it came to him. Of course. He jumped onto the kitchen benchtop and dragged the car keys into his mouth, careful not to bite into the stupid squeaky keyring. A few minutes later, the deed was done. The keys buried deep within the litterbox, never to be found. With a satisfied swish of his tail, he pushed open the nearest bedroom door and hopped back into bed.
This is my cat Brutus, demonstrating his version of the Cat in Bag. He’s 16 now, so (hopefully) his evil plan hatching days are behind him 🙂
adorable cat! XD

Thanks for a treat. One day, there will be a cat clever enough to use the internet. When they realise we find them funny, we’ll all be in trouble.

You’re welcome 🙂 yes, I imagine that they would be very offended to learn that the slaves have been revolting without their knowledge!

They already find us revolting. It’s the only reason they don’t try to eat us.

I guess they need us around until they figure out how to grow prehensile paws :p

You got it just right that cats regard us as slaves.

This is wonderful…. love this line…”because the slaves, despite appearances were smart enough to find him.” This proves the saying, dogs have owners, cats have staff!!! Great story!!!

Great story! Love how he calls his owners slaves. And, how he gets back at them. LOL! I love the photo of your cat, Brutus.

thanks PJ 🙂 I think deep down they think that we’re all just monkeys here to serve at their command :p

Sassy was that way too. But occasionally she would bring me a dead bird or mouse. LOL

aw, don’t you just love their generosity? Brutus used to do the same, except he used to bring live mice into the house and then play (terrorise) with them until the poor things died – and then leave it there for me to throw away..

What a very clever cat! I wonder how long it will take for his ‘slaves’ to find their keys. 🙂 Great story. I also love your picture of Brutus – it makes me want to go and watch a few silly cat videos (Maru) on youtube!

haha ah Maru – I think those videos are all part of their evil to keep us distracted while they’re busy raiding the pantry 😛

I bet all cats view us as slaves. After all, we pet them when they want to be petted, feed them when they want to be fed. The cat’s in charge!

I like the way you get inside the cat’s head here, particularly his view of his owners … er… ‘slaves’. How like a cat to feel himself superior to the humans he lives with. And this cat’s a very intelligent individual. What a clever hiding place he picked for the car keys. Lovely photo of Brutus. (He may have a good few years ahead of him yet. Our two cats lived to the age of 23.) 🙂

wow 23? thats incredible! were they a particular breed? I’ve been told that some breeds live longer than others.. and I’m glad that you liked the story 🙂

One cat was just a bit of everything and the other was a Persian. So that doesn’t throw much light on the reasons for longevity, I’m afraid. The Persian male died first and the other (a tortoise-shell female) died within weeks. She became completely upset and withdrawn after Webster died and just seem to give up on life. It was so sad. And yes, I loved your story. 🙂

Well they must have had happy lives Millie, surely that’s a good reason for them to stick around so long!
