This week’s Daily Post photography challenge is Afloat, a word which conjures up images of floating on warm tropical oceans and gazing up at blue skies, whilst sipping cocktails out of coconut shells.. The reality isn’t as glamorous, but a girl can dream!
The organised chaos of the floating markets at Bangkok.
When the sexiness of Rio gets all too much, head to Buzios to recover your senses..
Beingย the nearest mainland location to Antarctica, the Beagle Channel is no tropical haven – but its beauty is undeniable.
I’ve always loved the idea of the floating market. Can’t wait to explore it for myself one day.

Nice pics! That last Beagle Channel lighthouse looks familiar ๐ We were there too, before Patagonia. Did you see the penguins? I fell in love with them!

Yes there were. It was so beautiful there- freezing, but beautiful. What time of the year were you there? There were also heaps of seals around when we went, also very cute ๐ d

We were in BA and Ushuaia in November 2014 and then Patagonia, Bariloche, Iguazu, Uruguay in December. What about you? We saw the seals, too. Unfortunately the boat didn’t stop there for too long because it was really windy. But we saw them again in Peninsula Valdes ๐ It was a nice trip because of all the outdoors activity. Very different from our previous trips but also inspired us to start doing more hiking etc. What did you like best? I like the featured Patagonia photo on your site ๐

I went with a friend in 2009, Feb- around April, and spent most of our time in Rio, lots of Peru, BA and Patagonia, and did a stack of trekking including the Inca Trail and in Patagonia, Tierra Del Fuego etc. It’s a good time of the year to go as you get to experience carnivale in Brazil, and the national parks are still open in Patagonia. The highlight for me was climbing a glacier in Patagonia- you don’t get to do that too often! Would love to get to Antarctica one day, that’s the ultimate wilderness experience ๐

Antarctica would be great, true, and I’ve also dreamed of seeing the samba parade in Rio. Never been to Peru either! Wow. Sounds like a great trip!! Luckily taking digital photos is so easy these days, so you can remember all the details afterwards. I’m excited to have found your blog and will be following your flash fiction enthusiastically! Have great weekend!
